I am a licensed esthetician, cosmetologist, certified nutrition consultant and certified yoga teacher in the Krishnamacharya tradition. I have brought all my passions together to help improve your health and well-being. I am excited to tell you about offerings for your skin, hair and health!

My approach is holistic

The way you look is the result of balancing a healthy diet and lifestyle with the latest in proven hair and skin care techniques. I work on the inner and outer aspects of beauty and health skin by providing my clients with an intimate and tranquil setting for state-of-the-art skin and hair care and personalized health improvement programs.

My one-on-one approach is grounded in years of hand-on work with my very diverse clients. I pride myself in carefully listening to what my clients want and providing it with outstanding personal service.

I am a San Francisco native, and have owned my own facial and lifestyle salons in the Bay Area for over 25 years.  A few years ago, I realized that my clients wanted a break from their busy schedules and a place where they could just “let go” and relax. I opened my small, private studio in 1998.

Deborah’s 10 Healthy Skin Tips

DID YOU KNOW ….
- That we absorb nutrients through our skin?
- The skin is the largest organ of our body. It is also the last organ to be nourished, because it is furthest away from the digestive tract. So it’s important to give  our skin good nourishment from both inside and out.

  1. Drink plenty of clean filtered water, 6-8 glasses a day. Water keeps your skin hydrated and aids in eliminating toxins through the kidneys and colon.
  2. Eat lots of fiber in your diet. Your plate should look like a rainbow with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables daily – raw and cooked preferably. These foods keep the intestinal tract regular and are full of rich antioxidants (which help slow down cellular aging).
  3. Add essential fatty acids to your diet, these are the good fats that are so vital for healthy skin. You can get these EFAs from whole grains, seeds, nuts, soybeans, dark leafy green vegetables, cold-pressed oils (flax, pumpkin, sunflower, sesame and safflower to name a few). Oily fish such as sardines, mackerel and wild (not farmed) salmon also contain EFAs.
  4. Upon rising start your day with a glass of warm water and fresh squeezed lemon juice.
  5. Avoid excessive amounts of caffeine or alcohol which can dehydrate the moisture from your body.
  6. Watch your salt intake because it can lead to skin puffiness and swelling. Try using celery seeds or sea vegetables flakes instead.
  7. Reduce foods that clog and that are inflammatory. The worst are red meat, dairy, refined foods, sugar, fried foods, and especially foods that contain hydrogenated oils or fats.
  8. Cleanse, moisturize, and protect the skin from environmental stresses such as sun and cold weather.
  9. Have at least 35 minutes of cardiovascular exercise each day, such as brisk walking.
  10. Change your pillowcase every other day to keep absorbed facial oils from clogging the skin. The same for your own facial towels. Also, get a good night’s sleep!

Something new has gotten me very excited about make-up; I am using air brushing to create a really natural and almost flawless and fabulous look. It is awesome for special occasions.

I cut hair using a unique method called Hair Balancing

This technique is a life-enhancing hair care system that helps promote healthy, vibrant and beautiful hair by using the acupressure points of the head. Hair Balancing creates “air space” through the under-layers of the hair, providing lift and space for new hair to grow. By precisely following the head’s natural energy meridians, hair grows out in a more natural and harmonious way. Hair can be balanced in an infinite variety of lengths and styles good for both men and women.

I am also doing some interesting color layering that not only enhances your facial structure, but also brings out your skin tones and eye color.

Make-up lessons and airbrush application

I offer one-on-one make-up lessons and make-up application for weddings and any special event. I apply makeup with a special airbrush, that sprays a very fine mist onto the skin. it provides the perfect, natural-looking cover up for spots, wrinkles or blemishes – even dark circles under the eyes. With airbrush make-up you’ll look bright, awake and alive!
